CLINICAL BACKGROUND: Acupuncture At the end of my extensive three year clinical training in Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine at the Southwest College of Acupuncture in Santa Fe and Albuquerque, New Mexico, I received a Masters of Science in Oriental Medicine (M.S.O.M). I am also a Diplomat in Acupuncture certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) and have received National Clean Needle Technique Certification (CCAOM) as well. Traveling to the Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Beijing, China, I participated in intensive clinical rotations at several prominent Beijing hospitals. I established a practice in Cleveland, Ohio for approximately four years before relocating to Tampa, Florida. I am licensed as an Acupuncture Physician (AP) in Florida and am committed to attending yearly advanced training courses and workshops for acupuncturists to expand my knowledge and skill. This included the first year Ayurvedic Studies Program, three years of Gurukula (advanced clinical studies), and extensive clinical training in Pune, India. My training incorporated Ayurvedic philosophy, study of the ancient texts of Ayurveda in Sanskrit, treatment and management of numerous health conditions, pulse and tongue diagnosis, herbal preparations, nutrition, panchakarma (detoxification techniques), and therapeutic Yoga. I have also trained at the prestigious Indus Valley Ayurvedic Center in Mysore, India specializing in panchakarma techniques such as Ayurvedic massage. Lessons included meditation and breathing techniques, asana practice, yoga philosophy, applications of yoga therapy, current research on yoga studies, and methods of teaching. I have also completed an Ayur-Yoga teacher training at the Ayurvedic Institute in Albuquerque, New Mexico, which focused on integrating medical yoga with Ayurvedic treatment principles: balancing doshic constitution, treating doshic imbalances, and factoring in seasonal influences. Medical yoga applications included breath work, meditation, and physical postures. In addition, I am a certified Relax and Renew Instructor trained by Judith Lasater in restorative yoga focusing on the physiology of stress and relaxation, basic teaching principles, and specific techniques for women during menstruation, pregnancy, and menopause.
